David Dworin
David Dworin began advising professionals over a decade ago by helping a team of engineers overcome barriers to cross-cultural communication. Since then, he has built a track record of success tackling strategic business challenges for a range of professional services firms, including well known agencies and consultancies. His approach combines an ability to understand complex business issues with an appreciation for the human factor that determines success in such a people-intensive industry.
David knows firsthand how necessary, difficult, and critical it is for professional firms to get their strategies right. As an internal consultant to Gallup, he devised a consulting strategy that integrated their legacy as a premier research firm with cutting edge intellectual property around change management, contributing to record revenue growth and profitability. To roll out the plan, David led a global change program for over 400 professionals that transformed the way Gallup interacted with clients, and along the way, he implemented a proprietary process improvement approach that greatly improved service quality. More recently, as head of strategy for StrategyOne, a subsidiary of PR giant Edelman, he led marketing, strategic business development, and organizational change, helping the firm align closer with clients and reorient itself to meet the challenges of tomorrow’s research industry.
Before offering his advice and expertise to professional services firms, David led multi-million dollar consulting engagements in the retail, hospitality, manufacturing, and financial services sectors. He helped clients tackle strategic human capital issues, transform their culture, and turn around underperforming business units. Whether it was re-energizing a struggling flagship account, or leading a major project to double-digit build out, David grew to appreciate the need for a sound firm strategy, streamlined practices, and responsive operational support.
David earned a Master’s of Science in Information at the University of Michigan, specializing in Information Economics, where he studied under experts in game theory, behavioral economics, computer science, and complex systems theory. As information driven companies, professional firms face unique challenges in going to market, nurturing client relationships, and managing their people that lie outside traditional business theory. Combining real world experience with cutting edge research, David knows how to help his clients tackle these issues in an informed, data-driven fashion.
In addition to advising his own clients, David also volunteers as a pro bono strategy consultant through the Taproot Foundation, is vice-chair of the UJA Federation of New York’s Community Connections Task Force, and is on the board of the Mosholu Montefiore Community Center. He has appeared as an expert on Al Jazeera English, spoken on panels with topics ranging from inter-ethnic dialogue to trust in the financial services industry, and earned prizes at a number of New York City “hackathons.” A native of the Detroit suburbs, David now lives in New York City.
